Originally shared on the Clover USA blog, I’m so happy to share with you this hanging basket pattern on my blog! The Limoncello Hanging Basket is an advanced beginner pattern and is perfect for storing all your small, cherished notions!
My inspiration for this pattern came from the lemons found in abundance in the southern Italian groves lining the Amalfi Coast. Right now they are full to the brim with ripe lemons that are being harvested as we speak. I still remember seeing my first lemon and orange stand outside of Naples when we went to visit Pompeii. I was blown away by the sheer quantity and ranges in size that they had. Citrus is one of my favorite flavors and scents and so I knew I needed to incorporate it into my designs one day. The Limoncello Hanging Basket looks like a little ripe lemon in a not too cutesy way. Modern and simplistic, it is perfect for holding small essentials from your go to lip balms to your most used knitting notions!

Weave in ends
Fold up the sides of the basket as seen in the photo below and seam up the two sides using one of the yarn colors (I chose the yellow, and I seamed using mattress stitch in the “V”s or knit-looking stitches created by the edging, feel free to use your preferred seaming method).
Attach the loop
Tack together bottom, I wrapped the yarn 5 times to give it a little accent of color.
